There was a moment (20 years ago!) as I was sitting on the couch in my small one-bedroom apartment - which I still remember so vividly today - when an incredible terror arose. It was as if I was absolutely alone in the whole of existence, like a microscopic pinprick of “something” hanging within the infinite vastness of “nothing”.
THE ONE MOMENT THAT CHANGED EVERYTHING
Is my experience today in this realm of being?
Everything is in the other place.
An intersection in the ceiling pattern,
The fine holes of a grating,
In their beauty,
Take me to the other place.
I explain it as a clear overlay
On here,
Not distant or apart.
I quietly laughed in the dentist chair
While drilling work commenced.
Now I know,
I’m always in the other place.
