FIRE OF TRUTH
At some point on the inner quest to freedom from suffering, the suffering created by the endless movement of a restless mind, there comes a tipping point. This tipping point turns you towards the willingness to give yourself totally to truth.
What is this truth? Is it some kind of absolute understanding, or some kind of achievement of spiritual knowledge, or some kind of grasping of the highest principle or teaching?
No, it is not any of these. It is, instead, the truth of your innermost feelings, the truth of your deepest experience, the bringing to light the patterns of defendedness that lurk hidden in the subcontinent of your psyche. It is the explosion of truth when you see that you've been lying to yourself about your deepest longing, lying to yourself about your darkest emotions, lying to yourself about what hurts you and what scares you. It's not a conscious lie, but a reflexive and unconscious action to protect the vulnerable self.
But all these strategies of self-protection only serve to keep you imprisoned, trapped in the acrobatics of ego, weaving a web of illusion that stands in the way of living life as the freedom of true nature. And here is the tipping point ... when the prison is no longer a viable way to live. And now you will give everything for freedom ... you are willing to die rather than keep pushing down your truth. This willingness is a devotional act that kick-starts a fire deep in your being.
This fire is unstoppable, it will burn down all false structures and shine a torchlight upon all that you previously didn't want to see or feel. Pain, shame, regret, remorse, resentment, and brokenness will all come to the forefront ... simply to be embraced in the clear light of open heart. And in this openness, the shadow realm is purified. All ghosts of the past are released, all calcified grievances are softened, and the exhaustion of holding it all together is surrendered into the flow and simplicity of being here.
The fire of truth is the same as the fire of love. When all that is false has turned to ashes, all that remains is the clear-seeing of awake mind and awake heart. In other words, there is no longer the veil of "self" to cloud perception. There is no longer any avoidance or repression of feeling, there is no longer any bypassing of the bittersweet experience of being human, there is no longer a spiritual overlay to make you feel special.
This that is here is simply as it is ... and in THIS is the freedom you were seeking all along. The fire is now simply the light of awareness, unclouded by imagination or expectation or knowing.
