BECOME EMPTY OF SELF

amodamaa.substack.com

True fulfillment is not an accumulation of spiritual qualities; rather, it is an emptying of the “spiritual shopping basket.”

It’s a ruthlessly honest letting go of all ideas that uphold a sense of identity.

This is not as easy as you’d think, especially if you consider yourself to be spiritual. This “emptying” brings you face to face with everything you have been conditioned to believe about yourself.

Coming home to true oneness is an unknown dimension of being; a dimension so immensely open that no self can be found in it.

It is a death, not a gain.

The invitation to finally discover what you have been searching for requires the willingness to fall off the edge of the mind and into the unknown vista of unboundedness.

It’s a moment-to-moment “dying into emptiness,” a vertical deep dive.

Along the way, there is the high likelihood of an encounter with every energetic contraction that upholds the scaffolding of self-identity.

When fully met, these contractions are liberated. When welcomed into the clear light of awareness, every phenomenal display, feeling, thought, and sensation dies into nothingness. It returns to source.

It is the ungraspable openness of this forever-unfolding moment that we both fear and long for.

We fear it because it is unimaginable; it is unknowable to the mind.

We long for it because somewhere in our hearts, we know it is inseparable from our innermost being.
