AWAKENING IS NOT A SIDE-DISH
The holy grail of awakening is not a luxury reserved for those with nothing else to do but indulge themselves with spirituality.
Perhaps this was so at some point in the past, perhaps it still is for some now ... but times have changed and collective conditions have changed and the evolutionary momentum has increased its pace. Awakening is now neither an indulgence nor a holy grail.
Instead, this ancient longing (the longing to come home to our true nature) is right here in our faces, calling us to wake up out of the dream-spell of separation that has created the matrix of division, conflict and war in the world and within ourselves. It is right here, in the midst of our broken lives as a call from the soul to return to natural wholeness, as a magnetic pull to sanity and sanctity, as a remedy for the unbearability of the human experience.
Awakening cannot remain as a side-dish, something we dip into to delight the yearning for bliss and then turn away from when we are satisfied (at least for a short while). Awakening is now a matter of life and death ... we either evolve out of the myopia of ego-perspective, or we devolve and destroy our humanity.
Awakening is no longer a spiritual concern, but a human concern. It is a matter of integrity and dignity and sovereignty. It is a matter of beauty and lightness and love. It is a matter of true power that is not of this world but walks in this world.
Those whose lives have been broken, whose hearts have been opened by suffering, whose eyes have been torn asunder by living the lies of indoctrination and smallness borne for centuries and taken on as a heavy mantle ... for those, awakening is embedded in the living of a fully human life. It is the root, the seed, the flower, and the fragrance. Awake and human are synonymous. It has nothing to do with belief, or opinion, or spiritual ideology. It has nothing to do with past-time, or hobby, or playing in the garden of inner delights. It has nothing to do with being special, or being elevated, or being super-human.
It has everything to do with the rebelliousness of true freedom, with the authentic wholeness of innate nature, with the radical truth of love without compromise, with the willingness to listen to the deepest evolutionary call to break out of the cocoon and let wings grow.
Deep gratitude for these words.
